I’ve thought about writing this letter for a long time. I waited, hoping that fashions would change and such a letter would beunnecessary ― but that doesn’t seem to be happening. I’m not tryingtoinsult anyone or infringe upon anyone’s rights . I’m just aCatholic mother of four sons with a problem that only girls cansolve:leggings .
The emergence of leggings as pants some years agobaffled me.They’re such anunforgiving garment . Last fall, theyobtrudedpainfully on my landscape. I was with my family. In front of us wasa group of young women, all wearing verysnug-fitting leggings andall wearingshort-waisted tops (so that the lower body was uncoveredexcept for the leggings). Some of them truly looked as though theleggings had been painted on them.
I thought of all the other men around and behind us who couldn’thelp but see theirbehinds . My sonsknow better than to ogle awoman’s body ― certainly when I’m around (and hopefully, also whenI’m not). They didn’t stare, and they didn’t comment afterwards. But you couldn’t help but see thoseblackly naked rear ends . Ididn’t want to see them ― but they were unavoidable. How much moredifficult for young guys to ignore them.
"Leggings are so naked, so form fitting, so exposing.Could youthink of the mothers of sons the next time you go shopping andconsider choosing jeans instead?" a Catholic mother wrote.
I love purple. I love leggings. It stands to reason that I -love-purple leggings.
我喜欢紫色,我也喜欢紧身裤。所以我特别爱紫色的紧身裤。
But on a more serious note: let’s all try a bit harder to not shamepeople for what they choose to wear. Fashion is amulti-partyactivity . #leggingsdayND ...
这是条严肃的消息:我希望大家努力不去diss他人的穿着。时尚是多元的。#leggingsdayND
你觉得穿紧身裤,是对异性的一种暗示吗?你站这位妈妈的观点吗?
